My camera has been found and we should get to the pictures of our backwoods travels soon. Until then I want to point you at a fundraiser by Team Cul De Sac.
First, the auction!
Second, telling you what's for sale.
Richard Thompson, occasional reader of this blog, creates the popular comic strip Cul De Sac. He was also diagnosed with Parkinson's some time back. To raise funds for Parkinson's research he and his friend Chris Sparks set up Team Cul De Sac, part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, as a way to raise money for Parkinson's research. Richard is a popular guy among the cartoonist community. So when he told them that he wanted them to come up with some fan art that could be auctioned off the submissions poured in. They are up for auction until this weekend. You can bid on drawing by Bill Amend (Fox Trot), Sergio Aragones (Mad Magazine), Brian Basset (Red and Rover), Jerrys Borgman and Scott (Zits), Danielle Corsetto (Girls With Slingshots), Jim Davis (Garfield), Greg Evans (Luann), Cathy Guisewite (Cathy), Bill Holbrook (Kevin and Kell), Lynn Johnston (For Better or for Worse), Rick Kirkman (Baby Blues), Jef Mallett (Frazz), Mark Parisi (Off The Mark), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Lincoln Pierce (Big Nate), Mike Peters (Mother Goose and Grimm), Rina Piccolo (Alice), Jen Sorensen (Slowpoke), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Bill Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes), and so many others from political cartoons, animated cartoons, and even non-cartoon art. I've only listed the people whose names I recognize.
And if you don't feel like bidding you can always buy the book version. The release party is Sunday with several of the contributors in attendance.
Thanks to My Krodie, friend of mine and Richard Thompson, for letting me know about the auction and book release. And for pointing Richard at Friday Links just enough that I can call him a reader.
